I’ve been thinking about the women of Ukraine since this began. The resilience of the women in wartime as always been the backbone of the home front as well as occupied counties, and to see this surge to the lines and towards leadership is a testament to the women before us who fought for a scrap of recognition to be woven into generation upon generation. Women have hardly even begun to realize and live in our full potential. Thank you for this story.

I admit to feeling confused/worried about the stuff going on in Russia. It’s easy to troll and laugh about it but apparently some American vehicles were involved which is ... not great. Or are the Russians truly bluffing with their threats? One thing that we can’t lose sight of is the USA’s vital interests aren’t 100% in line with Ukraine’s. There’s a lot of overlap but not everything.
So glad you were able to find Vietnamese food! Kyiv seems to be a cosmopolitan European city.

Putin made the mistake of taking on the whole nation of Ukraine, not just it's "military". There is enough history that he should have known this, but ...?

My immediate reaction was that this was that weird Ukrainian all-female cult run by a kickboxer who called themselves Amazons. I remember articles about them popping up around 2014. But no this is actually an unrelated group which is pretty interesting. I don’t know what it is about Ukraine and the Amazonian identity but it’s a fascinating trend.

Slava Ukraine. The people of Ukraine are amazing, men AND women. They need all the aid we can give them but their spirit is unique and wondrous.

Nice story, and Olena definitely has an awesome attitude. But that rifle is a .22, so portraying it as defending against invaders doesn't quite fit.
