We get a rare look into what one pilot says was the most dangerous mission of his career – the mission to retake Snake Island from the Russian military.
One of the lovely Ukranian people I follow on social media finally "broke" as you put it. She's become a friend and it's the most helpless feeling not being able to help (I'm in the US).
So very glad you got a needed break, especially with your impressive grandmother. But also so glad to see you back and that Kyiv is still in safe hands. I cannot imagine the stress Ukrainians and people like you are dealing with. Be safe, keep us aware.
As a US citizen, I want to personally give "Rocket" and F-16, an FA-18, an F-22, an F-35, and an F-117, and also the USS Nimitz to launch from. They can figure it out pretty quickly I'm sure.
It is so lovely to know that you’ve been w your grandmother during your break. You’re fortunate to have such a champion, whom I imagine as leader of this motley
battalion of all the rest of us. Fare well in all, always.
I always read your posts with deep interest and reflect upon what you are bringing to life for us. Glad you're on the mend and taking time to recover.
You might enjoy Patrick Skinner's formerly Twitter now X account as he's been in nat sec in various roles/places and now is a Savannah, GA homicide detective working super duper short staffed and gun overloaded. He writes for the Soufan Group and sometimes for the Wash Post. Also highlights the cats, dogs and neighbors (tortoise, bees, frogees, raptors and other creatures) in his world.
So glad that you had a good break - not counting the typhoon cat 10! Glad you got to see your grandmother - there’s a strong family resemblance between the two of you! 🥰 If you get to see Rocket again, please tell him that there’s a whole bunch of people in the US pushing our Senators and Rep’s to get the F-16’s to Ukraine ASAP - also tell him we’re 🙏 for him! Thanks for the post - it was, as always very illuminating! Stay safe and I hope you got some of that sauce you like so well in Hong Kong! 👍💙💛🇺🇦❤️🇺🇸🫶🫶🫶
Welcome back, Mak and crew! I hope the break recharged everyone’s batteries and you all can elude the destructive stress that’s hitting so many because of the war. As Bo said above, our hearts break for those we see falling into the darkness of despair and frustration, the feeling of helplessness. FWIW, please let all know there’s long-distance love and support out there.
Welcome back team! I so appreciate the in depth glimpses you give us of "real" people fighting to save their people & country. The stress must be incredible, and sometimes I think civilians suffer more because they feel helpless. At least a soldier or a pilot can feel like they are taking concrete action? So cool that Rocket was involved in re-taking Snake Is - that "Russian warship go F... yourself!" was when I fell in love with Ukrainians as fighters for their homeland.
Inside the cockpit of a Ukrainian fighter jet – and the call for western F-16s

I feel like Ukraine needs more from us all.
Thank you for your work, guys.

(Haven’t even read this yet but I had to leave a comment saying WELCOME BACK! I missed you! Ok now I’ll go read.)

Welcome back Tim - and what an incredible story to share, thank you for telling his story and see you soon in Kyiv!
Tim, I am so proud of what you are doing; keep up the great work and be safe.
Thanks for sharing the picture taken with your grandma; she must be delighted seeing you and definitively proud of you!
I deeply appreciate your reporting and hope that you keep going while staying safe and healthy, both mentally and physically.
